Christmas Countdown

Isn't is weird that stores already have there Christmas Decorations up, and Thanksgiving nor Halloween has passed yet? Will Riley's Adventure's is kickin' of Christmas with a countdown for it:
Merry Christmas, Happy Thanksgiving, and Happy Halloween!

My Sister Had Her "Zuckertuten Fest" Yesterday

On August 14th, 2010, Ballston Spa Resident, Maggie Walz, who moved to Dresden, Germany, because of her father’s GlobalFoundries job, participated in the Dresden International School’s Zuckertuten Festival. The Zuckertuten Festival is where Parents and Siblings go and find toys, Barbies, sugar goods, etc. and put it in a large designed cardboard cone. The parents bring the cone on the day of the festival to the school. The child receives it from their teacher. When the child gets home they open the cone and see what they have & play with it. The principal gave a short speech about going in to first grade and how much fun they will have. Then the 2 classes/40 kids received their own cone. Then the Primary School teacher asked some of the kids what they were looking forward to in First Grade. Trying Different Foods

Well, do you know how adults always want us, kids, to try different foods? I'll just say, as a kid myself, that I think that isn't true in most cases. Most of us, if not all of us, have probably at some point gone out to eat at a restaurant. And if you choose off the kids' menu, you most likely notice that all items on the kids menu are the same at all restaurants. This is weird, escpecially since adults want us to try different food choices. I think each restaurant should have their own kids' menu with food that fits their restaurant's personality. For example, a mexican restaurant should have a Mexican kids' menu, not just hot dogs and hamburgers. I guess every restaurant should have one or two american food items, for kids that don't like ranging their food choices. But still, have foods that fit the resturantpersonality. They want us to try, but also, lie.

Letter to Riley

Dear Riley, I'm glad you are enjoying your adventures here in Germany. It is so much fun to look into your eyes as we learn new things together and visit new places. I'm so proud of you, and how you are showing me how to use the Trams. I love that you can tell me what number tram to get on, when I tell you where I want to go in Dresden. You have been a big help when we travel on them. And, when we grocery shop! And I have to take 5 minutes before I put anything in my cart, after I try to read what I want to get, then try to read all the ingredients since I have my food allergies. I will miss you on Wednesday when you go to school, but I can't wait to volunteer in your classroom and bring you and pick you up from school each day. I can't wait to hear about all your adventures, and hoping you can teach me some German! Love, Mom
