Mom's Classroom

Right now we putting stuff into Mom's classroom. She is teaching at Wood Road Elementary School.  She is giving us $5 dollars an hour to help her!! 2 years ago, I made $55 dollars, so I am hoping to beat my record. That year, Maggie got $10, because she just played with the toys.

Our New "Unit" in School

We have been working on the unit, "Media", but we just changed to a new unit, "Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle". We have been starting on working on a new recycling program in school.  DIS (Dresden International School), has all trash cans in the school. They have a recycling bin outside, but none inside that would transfer to the one outside. We are in the progress of making bins and putting them in each classroom. I wrote the letter to the directer of the school so she would accept our ideas in the school. I did along with a few other kids as well.

Hannah - Our Well Known Friend

Hannah, I'm sure you all know that she lives in Ballston Spa, and is seven years old. Late in November, she found out she had leukemia (a type of cancer). She is going to get a bone marrow transplant in February, 2011. If you live and Germany, and you children go to DIS(Dresden International School), you can bring you big bags full of plastic recyclable bottles, to get some room in your kitchen. If you live in NY, USA, you can go to a special fundraiser for Hannah on January 29th, 2011 to Peabody's Sports and Grille/Bailey's Cafe from 1:00pm to 10:00pm. There will be a $10.00 admission fee, which will be given to Hannah and her family, in need. Here is the events invitation: Hannah's Special Fundraiser in United States: When: January 29th, 2011 from 1:00pm to 10:00pm What: This will be a nice fundraiser, including Beer Tasting, Kid's room, and a lot more! Why: To help Hannah, who is in need right now! ...

Writing a Letter to The Principal

Some days ago, the teachers had said "Shut Up" to my class. Yesterday I made a letter to my principal saying that that word is a bad word and none of the teachers at Dresden International School/Annen Campus should not say that. I am going to give it to her today. Comment if you think that teachers should say that, or if you don't.

Tram Notes (Issue 1 Season 1)

A DVB tram driver always is a reg. Man or Woman. They have they eyes looking for stop lights, their feet always stepping on breaks and pedals. Every time they come to a stop, they need to press the open door button, right away. When they need to turn, they have the buttons "Left" and "Right" or "Left arrow" or "Right arrow" depending if the tram is older or newer. The trams get their power from a big thing on top hooked up to a wire on the top of the tram. When a tram and another tram pass each other, they will ring a bell or do this weird hand-motion thing with their hands.

My Sister Had Her "Zuckertuten Fest" Yesterday

Image
On August 14th, 2010, Ballston Spa Resident, Maggie Walz, who moved to Dresden, Germany, because of her father’s GlobalFoundries job, participated in the Dresden International School’s Zuckertuten Festival. The Zuckertuten Festival is where Parents and Siblings go and find toys, Barbies, sugar goods, etc. and put it in a large designed cardboard cone. The parents bring the cone on the day of the festival to the school. The child receives it from their teacher. When the child gets home they open the cone and see what they have & play with it. The principal gave a short speech about going in to first grade and how much fun they will have. Then the 2 classes/40 kids received their own cone. Then the Primary School teacher asked some of the kids what they were looking forward to in First Grade. After the festival, the whole school was invited to see their new teacher and their teacher’s classroom. They let everyone play on the playground and had a school fundraiser BBQ. They served w...

Last Day of School

On the last day of school, (6/24) we first went to my babysitter's house. Usually we are always late, but today we were early. So I was just talking to Joy, my babysitter(only in the morning). Will when we had to leave to go to school on the last day! I went to wait to go in the school building. Mrs. Tina, let us in. I went to my classroom and we cleaned out our desk then we made a little autograph book. The cover was what you won't miss about school and what you will miss in school. I glued on the cover. Then people came around to sign my book. Ms. Durham said I could play my slideshow I made. It made Gregory, a kid in my class. The slideshow is about 10 minutes long. Than we started cleaning a lot. Then we went to go to the rug to tell of what we will never forget in our 2009-2010 school year. Mrs. Bondi, our school's pick up lady, picked us up and brought us to the cafeteria. I saw my Grandma waiting for me. I had a great 2nd grade/2009-2010...

My Class Hosting the School Wide Meeting

Will, at our school, the kids get to host the School Meetings. So to start off the meeting, we did the Line Dance. Each person in our class had a partner. Will, by accident, Ms.Durham had the volume way way very high and the whole auditorium will filled with sound. So we covered our ears until the music went down. Then we did the dance and Did the meeting. Lucas started the meeting. Then Mattie and Mackenna did the pledge of allegiance followed by Alex, Alana, and Anthony doing the School Wide Meeting handshake. It was fun because after that we did another dance in honor of a special person at Malta Ave Elementary School. I'll give you a hint. The song was called "Paint Paint Paint the day away". The person was Ms. Chakus, the Art teacher at Malta Ave. We did the dance and did the moves. It was really fun. I loved how it was going so far. So after that it was time for the Character Ed awards. Character Ed is a special thing at Malta Ave. Every month there is a word...

My Mom thought that we were the First ones there. So the team comes out. We were in the wrong room. I hit my face and dragged my hand down. So we went into the room where every one was in. And I told Bella that she won the basket at the PARP fun night. She wasn’t there. So the girls are face painting with make-up. I’m just walking around with Mom while she chats with all these other Moms and Dads. Dad is just reading a book to Maggie. It was by the author that came to our school. So we got everything ready and left to the auditorium. Aunt Mari came. She’s on cruches. So we begin. First everyone had to bring the set up. Then we started to do the play by Bella and Payton saying "Lights Camera, Action. Which came by Ian just saying stuff about his time machine. So Grey and me came out and I said "Oh good we are final...
